Hello, I’m Lissette, an artist, designer, and the creator of Lab Experimental Textil.
My journey has always been closely connected to design, textiles, and the sharing of knowledge. As an artist and fashion and textile designer, I discovered in traditional textile techniques a world full of possibilities to create, experiment, and, above all, connect with knowledge and practices passed down from generation to generation.
For many years, I taught textile design at the university level. It was in the classroom, alongside my students, that Lab Experimental Textil was born: a space dedicated to exploring textile materials, techniques, and processes through curiosity, experimentation, and hands-on making.
When I moved to Montreal, I wanted to continue this project, but also to preserve an essential part of who I am: teaching. Lab Experimental Textil has therefore grown into a space for connection, creativity, and learning, where I seek to make traditional textile knowledge more accessible, share it with new generations, and explore new ways of creating together.
Today, I continue to believe that learning through our hands is also a way to connect, preserve our collective memory, and create new stories through thread.
